Gerdts Cousin Fun

The Gerdts planned a cousin Talent Show.  Ava made an opening video on her iPad for her talent. Leah sang Taylor Swift, You Belong To Me.  Everyone was so talented and it was cute to see them be brave up in front of everyone.

Beach, pool, beach, pool, etc.  The beauty of the beach never gets old and the kids love it for hour and hours on end.  We switched up the pool locations to keep it interesting.

Other fun with cousins.

Movie time seeing Despicable Me 3.

Sewing Camp

This week the girls did a sewing camp where they learned the basics of sewing with a machine. They made American Girl doll clothes, a poncho, skirt and bag for the doll. They loved it so much. I wish I could send them to classes all the time. Sewing is such a great skill. On the last day of class they had a fashion show with their dolls. Too cute!

4th of July 2017

Kickball is always a hit on the holiday!  The kids did a great job and some kids (and adults) got pretty competitive.  Go team Stripes!

Brennan organized a water balloon toss/fight!  Some even got a cooler full of water dumped on them.

Afterwards the kids took a quick detour to the pool for some swim time while we prepped dinner.

The Gerdts hosted a shrimp boil!  Here is the kids table.

Cindy prepared a program with historical questions for 25 cent answers.  Ava was excited to be the Statue of Liberty.  The kids loooove the money grab into the change bucket at the end.  They made out like bandits.

We went to the fireworks at the RSM Lake.  Christie did some face painting for the kids.  They loved it!  Also a big hit was the t-shirt cannon from the boat on the lake and off of the rooftop.  It got pretty competitive but all of the Bates' kids scored a shirt.  Unfortunately, the fireworks were cut short when there was a sprinkler malfunction that ruined the control panel.  They fizzled out after 5 minutes.  Such a huge bummer but it was still a fun night.

Happy 4th of July!
