Hockey Day

The principal of Ava's elementary school is huge, huge hockey fan, in particular the LA Kings. He set up a hockey day and the kids got to learn more about hockey and plan against their classmates. Ava really liked it. She surprised me by being a little aggressive out there, going after the puck.
Ava and Hailey getting some instruction.

Love those cute little buddies: Shea, Macady, Claire, and Ava
They spent the rest of the time cheering for everyone on the other teams. After school we all met up at the park.  Today they were some how all wearing pink, last time at the park they were all in teal.  Funny.

Legos by the Fire.

This is the first time we have used our fireplace! It has sat dormant for three and a half years. We just got the easy logs for our trial run and it is so fun to have it going! I loved it and made me happy to sit in our living room. It is overcast and chilly today so it was a perfect touch to our cozy afternoon.

Eric and the girls played with Legos by the fire and they made a space shuttle based on what we saw at the Science Center yesterday. I think the girl Legos are so pretty and they (Eric) did an awesome job building that Space Shuttle!

Then tonight at 1:30am we were woken up by a crazy hail storm. It was so loud and pelting our windows that they sounded like they would break. It was lightening and thundering out too. We got up to check it out and it looked like snow. I can't imagine the sound or damage larger hail would do. This morning there is still some hail on the ground and the girls were surprised to see "white stuff" in our yard. They went out and played around in it.  It is still supposed to be sunny and 60* today, thankfully.

A couple 6 second videos from Vine this morning of the hail and girls.

California Science Center

This morning Eric and I were talking about what to do and we ended up making a plan for going to the California Science Center in LA. We had such a fun day exploring the museum.

Eric and I were excited to see the space shuttle Endeavour.

They had two cool Discovery Rooms that were for kids under 7.  In one of the rooms they had magnifying glasses and we started having fun with those.

We loved all of different experiments and exhibits.  The girls got to use telescopes and see animals and fish.  They used iPads and created solar, hydro, and wind energy.  Ava even designed a car on a computer.

After the museum we headed to Rocco's Italian Kitchen for dinner and got home in perfect timing for bed.

We spent Wednesday night at Disneyland. It has been a while since we were there last and we always need to remember how much fun we have. The girls are usually pretty great and during this time of the year it is empty. We walked on to almost every ride in Tomorrowland. We only had 2 hours before it closed but packed in a good amount of stuff.

Autopia.  Leah's face is cracking me up in the third picture, she was so nervous when the car went wild around the corners.  I had to keep reminding her that she was the one driving.

My personal best score on Buzz Lightyear!  308,400 points!  I can't believe how similar Leah and Ava's scores were.

We went on Space Mountain.  The girls faces are killing me.  So serious.  Ava loved it and wanted to go again so Eric and her ran back on for one last ride of the night and got to sit in the front row.  It looks like Ava is having a heart attack but really she is just holding onto her hair clip, she thought it was going to fly off into space.  Leah seemed to be a little more scared this time around she keeps saying that the lap bar is too tight and hurts her tummy.
We rode the monorail and went on the Astro Orbiters too. It was really cute because it started to sprinkle rain while we were on the rockets, just as the girls predicted. They loved flying through the rain in the dark while the parade was going down Main Street.  It is always magical at Disneyland.

Bits of Sunshine

Here are some Instagrams from over the past couple of weeks.
Leah loves these double sunglasses and wants to try them on every time we are in Target.  She is always making me laugh and is such a goofball.

The weather went from freezing (by California standards, like 55*) to beautiful and sunny again.  It was so chilly for a while that the marquis outside of the elementary school just said "Brrrr!"  We were all so happy for some sunshine back in our lives.   It was so nice that we even went back to the pool.  The girls were so excited to go swimming in the winter.

They are building an In-n-Out in RSM and it almost done.  The girls have loved watching the progress.

We are still having our Friday night Cafe Rio with Meredith.  It is fun to have an evening to just hang out with Meredith!
I love Leah's sweet little face.  She is such a lover.  Always has kisses for everyone.  One time she even kissed a random guy on the her defense she said she thought it was Meredith.  I don't have any idea how she mistaken him for her.  And her hair is long enough for pigtails now!   There is something very Kate/Ellie about that bottom pic.  I love seeing cousin resemblance.

I like spending time with my little bit of sunshine everyday.  I want to freeze time and stop these girls from growing up.  Kindergarteners and preschoolers are the best!
