Leah: 11 Months

Leah is 11 months old. Little Leah has taken her first steps but doesn't seem too interested in walking just yet. She stands up on her own really well. She claps all the time. If you make a kissing noise at her she does it back to you. She says "hi" - "bye" - "mama" and "daddy". She has her own special words for Ava and Spike. She says the same things for them every time. She tries to sing all of the time. If any one of us is singing she chimes in with her own singing noises. It is really cute to hear Eric and Leah singing together before bed. She likes to dance and bounce to music. She likes to garden and dig in the dirt with Eric. Her favorite game is peek-a-boo. We love you little Leah. I can't believe you're almost one year old. We want you to stay just like this forever!

A short video of Leah's kissing noise.

Tree Swing

Eric built Ava and Leah a tree swing!

It came out great and we've already have so much fun on it.

Last Day of Preschool

It was the last day of preschool at Coastline Community College today. Ava is sad to leave Miss Jeanette and Miss Linda. It's been so much fun having a class that Ava, Leah and I could go to together. We'll miss it and the girls from Huntington Beach too. I had to turn in a final and mid term to get credit for the Parent Education class and it was fun to reminisce about the past two semesters and how Ava has grown.

Afterward we went to Disneyland and met up with the Bates there. When we got there Ava really wanted to visit the Fairies in Pixie Hollow. She got to meet Silvermist, Tinkerbell and Terrance.

Rachael and Brennan took Carter on Big Thunder Mountain. The girls were so cute waiting to see them come around the corner and finally they did!

Silly Girl

Ava is such a little character. We love her and all of her personalities.

I had a date with Ava today. Just she and I went to Disneyland together. It was so pleasant and fun to just be with Ava and spend time together, like the olden days. :) She fell asleep on the way to Disneyland and when she woke up she looked over at the empty side of the car and said, "Mom, I miss Leah." Too cute! I missed her too. Anyways, we went to go see the Aladdin play at the Hyperion Theater. It's changing productions soon and I knew Ava would love it (thanks for the scoop, Bryan). She did love it and I thought it was very well done and a lot of fun. I was so grateful that Cindy and Eric had Leah though because it would have been a nightmare trying to wrangle her in there for 40 minutes. We got there just a few minutes before show time so we were up in the balcony but Ava could see everything from her seat and the magic carpet ride was really close to us. She was beaming through the whole song. Afterward she said her favorite part was when Jafar was the snake.

Waiting for the show to start.

After the show we went to see the princesses. The line is always way too long but tonight it wasn't as bad and with only Ava and I - we braved it. Ava got to hug and meet Jasmine, Cinderella, and Aurora. She was the most star struck by Cinderella. They whisper talked for a few moments and Ava hugged her the longest. Afterward I asked her what Cinderella was telling her and she said, "I don't know" so maybe it wasn't as intimate as it looked.

Always fun at Disneyland!

**Aladdin isn't leaving! Thanks for the update Jim!**

This Past Week

Here are some pictures from last week's adventures.

We went to Disneyland. The girls haven't been on Winnie the Pooh and they both loved it. Ava was waving at all the characters. Eric and Ava went on Splash Mountain. She came off soaked but Eric was hardly wet. Lucky her, I guess. It's strange that Ava is tall enough to go on a lot of the bigger rides. We tried to go on Big Thunder Mountain but it was closed.

In preschool, Miss Linda set up a science experiment and Ava loved creating test tube volcanoes. We love this serious face.

We had some hot weather so we broke out the little baby pool for the back yard. It was seriously so small but the kids didn't care and had fun splashing and climbing in and out.

Jeremy's elementary school had a fundraiser carnival so we went to check it out. Ava loved playing all of the silly games, eating cotton candy, playing on the big playground, and participating in the dance contest. Ava and Leah were both equally entertained by all of the "big" kids running around.

We went to the pool on Saturday night to "prep" Ava for her upcoming swimming lessons. When we got home Leah headed straight for the blinds. She loves to play with them and knows that it's a no-no. But don't you love that sweet "innocent" face?

Poor baby Leah has been sick for over a week with a cold that won't break. I am now wondering if she is teething also. She conquered the stairs this month and loves making a break for it and is proud of herself for making it all the way up. On Sunday the girls were on the landing together just squealing and screaming at each other so Eric snapped a picture. They were like our caged animals up there.

Every week is fun, but sometimes we have the pictures to prove it.

Swimming Lessons

Ava started swim lessons today. It was the coldest day in weeks and the lessons are in an outdoor pool at 5pm. Poor Ava was shaking and shivering the entire half hour in the water. There were several kids crying the whole time. Luckily Ava loved it and she did great despite it all. She was almost floating on her own by the end of the first lesson. On the last day of class they have a test of jumping in the water with their clothes on and being able to float for survival. Sounds like a mom's worst nightmare to me. She seemed to really enjoy it but hopefully on Wednesday we'll have warmer weather.

Lesson Two:
She got more comfortable putting her face in the water. The instructor had them climb out and jump rolling over to a float a few times. I think she is going to really do well in the class. She actually kept getting "in trouble" for not keeping two hands on the wall. She was doing ballet in the water, she said "making rainbows".

Some days I try to trick Ava into a nap by going for a drive in the Canyon. I get her excited to get in the car by telling her we'll see the horses. Today there were some right by the side of the road so we stopped and she got to see them up close and pet them. Leah was squealing at them from the car window. The horses were really friendly. The girls loved it and they both still napped afterward. Today has really raised their expectations of going to see the horses.

Ava started her gymnastics class today and she loved it. She was the only girl in the class of 8 boys which was a big change after ballet. They did so many activities and I tried to take a few pictures through the glass. I really like watching her on the different apparatuses that I used to do like the uneven bars and balance beam. She loved the rope swing and jumping on the trampoline in the "big" gym. I also liked watching her challenge herself with pull ups and backward rolls. After class she called Eric to tell him about it and she said, "It's a lot of hard work". She is going to learn a lot of coordination and become stronger during this class.

I love the Tiana panties sticking out.
