3 Months Old

Leah turned three months old today. I honestly can't say enough times how good this little baby is. Time is going by fast too. She is just content, hardly cries. She makes bubbles with her drool. She smiles a lot and is starting to laugh a little. When she notices me from across the room, her whole body gets excited. She coos. She kicks and hits her toys and has even held a couple. She is the spit up queen though. I think that is pretty much the only negative thing I can think of. I mean she does cry sometimes but not often and as soon as I pick her up she stops. She sleeps a solid 8 hours every night. She falls asleep in her crib when she is put down awake. She nurses quickly and takes a formula bottle while I am out...she doesn't seem to care, she is just happy to eat. I am not even kidding about all of this. She is such a wonderful baby.

Leah started rolling earlier this week. She is rolling from her back to her tummy. She can even get her arm out eventually and push up on her arms a bit to get her head up. It's so cute. I can't believe she started doing this before she was even 3 months old.

I patiently waited it out to capture a roll on film. I muted out the talking in the background between Eric and Ava. You can also thank me that I edited out a good 30 seconds of Leah laying on her stomach trying to get her head up. Haha. I love all the new things babies get to experience.

On Tuesday, September 29th, Leah had her 3 month check up with Dr Chang. Her stats are 13 lbs 8 oz (90th percentile) and 25" long (95th percentile). She is growing well and going to be tall like her sister. She had 3 shots and cried after each one. I hate hearing that sad cry and seeing real tears. Luckily it hardly ever happens!

Ava never wants to hold Leah. She really likes her but doesn't really touch her much, which at this point is a really good thing. She is very soft with Leah when they do touch. It's so sweet to watch Ava in the car through the rear view mirror because when she is tired, she just stares at Leah and holds her hand until she falls asleep. I like having their car seats next to each other for that reason and also, Ava can help me with getting Leah her pacifiers or blankets. Anyways, I asked Ava today if she wanted to hold Leah and she said yes. So, I knew I had to capture this rare occasion. Here are the sisters. I couldn't decide which picture I liked better since they are so much alike so I did one in color and one in black and white. I love these two little girls.

The Witch

The other day while browsing the Halloween merchandise, I got Ava a few additions to her dress up collection. Since then she has been using two of the items nonstop. She's been using her magic skill to turn Eric, Leah and me into everything from frogs to bunnies. She even says cute magic words like abracadabra. Eric did a little photo shoot with her to model her scary new witch hat and magical wand.

Casting a spell.

The good witch.

The scary witch face.

Someone is really excited for Halloween this year!

It's Fall

Do you see that? Not in our yard, but in the neighbor's yard.

Do you see that tree? The one with the changing leaves?

Do you see the pretty fall leaves? Right there.

Anyways, that is the only sign of fall that you'll see around here despite the fact that today is the first day of autumn and kids are back in school and Labor Day is over and there are Halloween decorations and costumes everywhere you look. It's still 95 degrees here today! Happy Fall! I can't wait until we have some nice 75 degree weather to enjoy.

Looks of Leah

She is such a good little baby.

Her cheeks are getting chubbier. She is starting to laugh.
Her legs are getting longer. She is trying to roll over.
Where does the time go?

Silly Girls

Sherri, Chase, Anna, and Ellie came to visit us today. Ava and Anna were eating lunch and put their sandwiches on their noses, so silly. Thanks for playing with us!

Yesterday Leah was napping in the bouncer seat and she kept sliding down until eventually her feet were on the ground.

Beach and Pizza

It doesn't get much better than an afternoon at the beach and then pizza. I love Saturdays when we can spend time together as a family. The Millers are in town so we met them and Karen at Crescent Bay after Eric ran the 19 miles from our front door to Laguna Beach...crazy!

Crescent Bay didn't disappoint with the big waves breaking right on the shore. Instead of moving our chairs back from the tide, Eric and Gerrit dug a trench around us. It worked too! Thanks for keeping us safe.

You can't beat the beautiful scenery at this beach.

Leah just chilled on a beach chair in the shade for most of the time.
She is such a good, happy baby!

We love Al's New York Cafe, especially when Ava is asleep in the car!

T Street

We went with Camille and Jeremy and some of their ward friends to T Street in San Clemente before school started here. It was the first time we have been to that beach. Ava loved the bridge and the trains going by. It was nice to have a change in beaches. It was also nice that Camille offered to help hold Leah while I played with Ava in the water. It was fun to be there and the kids played hard. How tired do they look??

Backyard Fun at Gram's House

Recently Ava has learned to ride a bike really well...actually, a tricycle. Last week Ava had fun riding around with Owen in Gram's backyard.

I finally remembered to get it on video.

Jeremy and Ava also had fun playing in the little blow up pool at Gram's house last week. Here they are doing their best jumps/slides. I love how they yelled "charge" before their big jump.

Water Park

Today was the Willards last day in Orange County before moving to Texas so we went with them and Eisenbises to the Ladera Ranch water park. It's only the second time we've been but we love this pool. It's only a foot and a half deep, there is a 300 gallon bucket that dumps into the water, spray toys, and umbrellas in the water. Fun for everyone.

We are going to miss those little Willard faces!

It's coming...

It's really coming! Here is the sign to prove it.

We heard from a worker in Utah that the Lake Forest Cafe Rio is scheduled to open in November. We are SO excited. There is still a lot of work to do since the building hasn't even started to be renovated yet but we're hopeful!

Ava is enrolled in a preschool through Coastline Community College. It's a parenting/preschool class that is just once a week for 3 hours. She started today and this picture captures how excited she was to go this morning.

There are a lot of kids enrolled from our old HB ward so it will be really fun to see them each week too. Here she is with Meredith at snack time.

She loved the dress up area and I think she put on every piece of jewelry in the cabinets. She loves fashion. She loves to dress up and she wants to chose her dress (always a dress), shoes, and hair accessory every day.

I'm excited about this parent and me type preschool. I love that I can be there, learn some parenting tips, help in the classroom, and I am able to bring Leah too! It will be a great introduction to some structure for next year. There were lots of toys and art projects to do. She already is excited to go back next week.

Girl Time

After a late night of dancing, Ava woke up at 6am. Ugh.
So, the girls and I had cuddle time for a long time this morning.

I love these cute little daughters.

Dance Party

We had a late night family dance party tonight. We've been without our stereo since we moved in but Eric finally set it up tonight. Eric and Leah were ready for the party.

Ava got on her dancing tutu and ballet slippers.

She twirled...

and she danced with her dad.
