Eric, Ava and I had a little family outing to the Angels game tonight. Rich had some great tickets from a client that he wasn't able to use so we benefited. Thanks! The seats were in a really good spot and we had a such a fun time. Not great pics but here we are enjoying. (Ava's hand is constantly in her mouth lately because she has her last four teeth coming in!)
Here is Eric's baseball card picture of the pitcher.
Ava really got into cheering. She was trying to yell "Let's go Angels" and clap on beat. It was totally rad how she would yell into her hands. See the video:
Awe! Meredith is off to BYU-Idaho. We are so excited for all the fun she will have there but sad to see her go. I first met Mere when she was only 8 years old. I can't believe it's been 10 years and now she is going off to college. It's been fun to see her become an adult and go through all her little stages. She was cracking me up the other day talking about how now that she is going to college and 18 she will be in the family Christmas gift exchange instead of everyone buying her a gift and she was so worried (4 months in advance) about what she would put on her list for someone to get her. Haha! Like she doesn't have a million other things to worry about right now. We are going to miss our little talks with her and going out and doing fun things with her. We loved going up to her house to see her leave for her very first date and proms and track meets. Her funny 18 year old ways always kept us laughing and entertained. I always am asking her - what will we do without you and your teenage drama when you're gone? Anyways, we love you Mere and can't wait to see you in a couple of months! We'll be checking in.
Last night we went to Chilis for one last dinner together. Here is Ava squealing and running to greet Meredith and Jeremy.
Ava doesn't get it at all but she's going to miss Meredith. When we go up there to visit she constantly repeats her name in anticipation.
We love pictures in this family so when Jenny was offering free family pictures for practice, we jumped on it. Tonight we met with her in Old World Village and had a little shoot. Ava wasn't too excited about being posed since there was so much to explore so we'll see what happens. Thanks Jenny. Here is our at home timer version of our family picture.
And one of Ava, of course.
We finished off our evening with Cold Stone downtown. It doesn't get much better than that.
When I was pregnant with Ava, I really liked ketchup. I don't normally eat it at all but maybe my body was craving the salt or something. We recently found out that Ava actually really likes ketchup too. On Saturday we went to In-N-Out for lunch and Ava was so excited about dipping her french fries in the ketchup.
At first I thought she just thought she just thought it was fun since she dipped her bits of hamburger and stickers in it too and didn't eat them.
But then she just went in with her finger and started eating it.
Pouring it in her hand might be easier...
Luckily we avoided disaster with that one. I'm glad ketchup is thick and slow. Clean up time! Thanks for cleaning up your own mess Ava. (I love how concentrated she is)
Today, Ava played in her bedroom alone for the first time. Sounds weird, I know, but she always plays out in the family room where I can keep a close eye on her and where all of her toys are kept in cabinets. But, I decided to let Ava rediscover a few of her old toys that were stored under her bed and she loved that. I found it kind of exciting for her to be in there on her own with the toys out of my sight. When I went in to check on her she was just sitting there playing nicely with her toys and her bottle - she even took her shoes off. I don't know what it is but she looks so much older to me in this picture despite that pesky bottle.
I have had a hard time getting back into the groove of things and not for a lack of trying! Last week, Ava was waking up super early and that made for a really long day. So on Thursday we hit the beach, just the two of us, at 9:30am. And, I discovered that it's not just sand she likes to eat, she also likes to wash it down with salt water. She truly is a beach baby. Don't worry though I think I put an end to the sand eating and the water drinking was at a minimum before we left. Hopefully it stays that way!
On Saturday we went down to Laguna Beach with the Eisenbises and Sumans. It was crazy there! Parking was horrible and we parked way up on Hillcrest Dr. Poor Eric hiked up there to get the car for us after spending 2 hours at the beach and running 20 miles that morning. Yes, 20 miles.
Anyways, Ava and Jeremy made a new friend playing in the sand.
We had a nice time and the water temperature was great in the cove. We headed back to the Suman's house for pizza and a movie. Ava and Jeremy are such good buddies. He's such a good sport to hang out with this little girl all the time.
On Monday we went to the Bella Terra for the kids show they have there. Ava was in a perfectly fine mood until we got there. But by the end she was in better spirits and was dancing and clapping with the rest of the kids.
Even when Ava is in a bad mood I know we need to get out and keep doing the routine otherwise we both will go crazy! Today we are off to Park Day and I hope it's a better day.
Eric's childhood friend, Ashkan got married on Sunday, August 17th. The wedding was in the evening out in Murrieta. We didn't want to take Ava so I stayed home with her while Eric went with his parents, Mark, and Sara. It sounded really beautiful. Here are a few pictures.
I couldn't believe how many groomsmen and bridesmaids there were.
Here is a quick wrap up from our vacation to Florida. Ava did SO great on the airplane...both ways. Hurray for airports with children's play areas!
We had so much fun hanging out with the family. We took walks, went to a park, went out to eat, watched hours of the Olympics, had a lot of laughs, heard a lot of screaming (from Ava), finally saw Dark Knight, and had a lot (a lot) of ice cream. What a fun trip...thanks Novaks!
She loves Dora, Barbie, and princesses. She got a little of it all for her big day.
August 10th was my birthday! I turned 29. I had a great day! My parents treated us to Outback for dinner. I love the Victoria's center cut steak...yum, yum. They even sang to me there and brought me an ice cream treat. After we got home and played a bit we had a little party with ice cream cake and gifts. Thanks everyone! Tonight we went swimming in the pool again. So fun.
August 17th will be Katie's 7th birthday! We celebrated at Scott's house today.
Ava had fun on the swings too.
They got a huge bounce house type water slide and the kids had a great time. Bill got some great shots of them coming down.
Kimmy kept having bathing suit malfunctions!
Scott brought Ava up to go down the slide but it is difficult to carry a child and climb the ladder with one hand especially when it is slippery. Scott actually fell down off the ladder and little Ava was just holding on dangling there. She was scared. How sad is this picture?
Thankfully, Scott was not hurt and Ava went down the slide as planned.
This picture of the girls is really funny to me.
They are all just doing their own thing, soaking wet!
